As expected, there were fireworks at the George Hill (G3) Invitational, and Prep Ball Stars brought all the action via live-stream. The players did not disappoint with several eye opening performances. Here is a recap of the five games:

GAME ONE: G3/All Indy vs. EG10 17u

This was a rematch of last week won by George Hill/All Indy (GHAI) 65-54. Both team battled hard. Gus Etchison had a shot to win it in the end, but his shot hit off the rim to give GHAI another 48-47.

Top Performances:
EG10 – Malik Stanley (Warren Central) lead all scorers with 27 points and scored in a variety of ways. The only reason he doesn’t have more offers (University Of Indianapolis) is his size. I wouldn’t let stop ME. He is a player. DJ Hughes (Lawrence North and Butler commit) looked good on and had an efficient double double. He is college ready physically already and even made some nice moves off the dribble to get to the rim. Gabe McNary (6’7″ Avon) had some nice moments and did a nice job protecting the rim. He also had one of the best plays of the day dunking over a large defender. Gus Etchison (Western Michigan commit and Hamilton Heights) has a nice game. He can handle and can also create his own shot. Jalen Hooks (6’7″) is a 2023 prospect. He is already a really good player and was really effective as a defender.

GHAI – Javon Smalls (Franklin Central) lead his team in scoring with 15 points and deciding last 3 points in OT. He was named game MVP. He is on fire now, and has picked two offers from Ball State and Indiana State offered shortly after the live-stream. Eddie Jones (Pike) was a big factor in the win. He’s about 6’5″ and has a nice touch on his shot. 12 points for the game. Anthony Neal (South Bend Clay 2020) is a nice 6’7′ specimen. He went to work in the second half for all of his 10 points and is a rim protector. I really like Vincent Brady. He does it ALL and had his usual game giving his team a little bit of everything. He had 12 points with three 3s. Shamar Avance (Lawrence North) had a slow first half but picked it in the second scoring and passing in transition. I also LOVED how he took on the challenge of guarding Malik Stanley down the stretch of the game and was very effective.

GAME TWO: Team Teague 2022 vs. Indiana Elite/Team Indiana

Team Teague (TT) jumped on Indiana Elite Team Indiana (IETI) with both, and was up 38-8 on their way to a statement making 63-28 win.

Top performances:
TT – Leland Walker was phenomenal and was the Game MVP with 15 points and several high flying dunks. Reggie Bass has 3 high major offers (Florida, Texas Tech, Illinois) for a reason and was active demonstrating a great stroke from deep. 12 points. Peter Suder (Carmel) has an all around great game and is the kind of player every coach wants to have. He can handle it and makes big plays. Rebounds his own miss better than any player I have seen.

GAME THREE: D1 INDIANA VS. George Hill/ALL INDY 17U

D1 Indiana started and finished strong on its way to a 53-49 win. Luke Brown was game MVP with 15 points. Javon Smalls lead all scorers with 17 points.

Top Performances:
D1- Brown (Blackford) has 15 D1 offers and it showed in the game. He was patient on offense and picked his spots to score off the dribble or catch and shoot. JR Konieczny (Notre Dame commit) was solid with 9 points and has a fluid game inside and out. He handles it well for his size. Kooper Jacobi (Silver Creek) has nice tough on his jump shot and was very active inside. Darrius Washington really has nice size and was very effective when in the game. There was certainly no drop off, and he had 8 points with several rebounds. GHAI – Javon Smalls may have been the best player on the floor and picked up an Indiana State offer after the game. Vincent Brady (Cathedral) continued his solid play with 10 points.

GAME FOUR: TEAM TEAGUE 2022 VS. George Hill/ALL INDY 2022 16U

Team Teague started off slow in this one but pulled out the 46-36 win over a game George Hill/All Indy team. Leland Walker was game MVP with 19 points.

Top Performances:

Walker was again very explosive and was the difference in the game. He picked up a Winthrop offer after the game. Jeffrey Simmons (Fishers) was also solid with 8 points. He does all the little things well and finishes well around the rim. Javon Tracy (Decatur Central) was the second leading scorer in the game for GHAI with 12 points.

GAME FIVE: AMAYESZING SPORTS VS. AWAIT

Antonie Hurns was the game MVP and lead Amayeszing Sports to a 44-43 victory over AWAIT.
