Players Who Will Be Hotter Than July!

The July period is the month where college coaches get to see players the most, and having already seen them in April, May and June, offers start to come even a little more.  Who is going to be HOTTER than July?  Here are a few names that we expect to pick up some momentum and more offers this month:

Varschon Clark – 2028 Guard (6’3″), Hamilton Southeastern

We saw Clark’s ability when he was brought up from JV as a freshman and inserted into the starting line-up against Top 8 Anderson.  Clark was one of the best players that night in a close loss to the Indians, but you could see the athleticism and ability even then.  Clark is one of the best prospects for 2028, and if he can be consistent with his shot, watch out.. Ball State was the first to offer.  They won’t be the last. Clark is playing for Meanstreets.

Don Bowling III – 2028 Wing (6’6″), Anderson

It is surprising that Bowling doesn’t have any offers yet.  He finished his sophomore campaign with a 20.6 average on good shooting percentages and has played well in the spring/summer, especially at Top 100 and during the Futures Game All-Star week against his freshman/sophomore peers.  This should be the month where the offer train starts rolling.  Bowling has started this week off right with 22 points his first game and 29 points in the next for UNRANKED in Las Vegas.

Levi Walker – 2027 Shooting Guard (6’4″), Fishers

The thing I like most about Walker is his versatility.  He started out the past season for the Tigers out of the rotation on a loaded roster, but he kept working all the way into the starting line-up.  He is deadly from the 3, moves well without the ball and is plenty athletic enough for lobs or putback dunks.  University of Indianapolis offered him last month, and I am sure they hope they get him.  I see a jump into the D1 level this month even as high as mid major.  Too much talent to ignore.  Walker is playing for Indiana Basketball Club this month.

Landon Lampley – 2028 Wing (6’7″), Pike

Lampley is the best prospect in Indiana.  Period.  Fluid, really athletic and a really quick leaper.  And don’t let him get a full head of steam heading to the basket.  Once that shot becomes 36%+ from the 3, it’s over.  I see more Power 5s coming into the picture this month playing for Meanstreets.

Elijah King – 2027 Guard (6’3″), South Bend St. Joseph

King can score it and score it some more.  I saw him for the first time at the state final against Attucks last year.  He reminds me of Azavier Robinson some with his build but maybe even a better shooter.  He started off the spring on another AAU team this spring but is now with Indiana Elite 3SSB.  He has picked up offers from Evansville and Western Michigan since May, but there are more on the horizon (pun intended?).

Devin Bolden – 2027 Forward (6’8″), Ritter/Prep School

Bolden was City Player of the Year and a junior all-star this year playing for Ritter this year and has offers from Toledo, Eastern Kentucky and Stetson.  There is a lot of size, hustle and talent here.  He played for Progeny in the spring but will be playing for EG10 at the 3SSB level for July.  He is sure to be watched.  I can see more colleges taking notice here for sure.

Kenneth Lampley – 2027 Wing (6’7″), Pike

Lampley holds an offer from Rutgers that he’s had for awhile.  He had a solid junior season playing for a loaded Pike team and is playing for Meanstreets on the top circuit in America with success.  He has all the tools in his bag for a wing. Look for more colleges to take notice this month for the top prospect.

Cooper Zachary – 2027 Point Guard (5’10”), Fishers

Yes, I know. If Zachary was 6’3″, there would not be a conversation of Power 5.  At all. Size DOES matter to coaches when you are on display against other players.  But…so does performance.  Every time Zachary has seen the whites of the eyes of players bigger than him or ranked higher, he has cooked.  COOKED.  He has about 20 offers in the low to mid major range.  Could a Power 5 D1 reveal itself this month?  It’s possible.  There are a few that come to mind in the Big Team and Big East.  At any rate, Zachary will be his efficient, tough, shot making self this month playing for Midwest Basketball Club at 3SSB.

Luke Vandegriff – 2027 Center (6’10”), Westfield

Did I say size matters? Yes, I did.  There aren’t many bigger than big Luke.  He has an offer from SIUE.  He is a load down low and is coachable.  You definitely know what you are getting: finishes at the rim, rebounds, hard work.  Could more schools take notice this month with him playing for Midwest Basketball Club.  He will be hard to miss out there.
