Redmond Gets It Done

Every time you watch Edreece Redmond play, you see that he is coming. Not as much on the radar as he should be, his sophomore year was a breakout year for the point guard.
Redmond, a 6’0” PG from Chatard with a 3.8 GPA, has a long build and puts the work in. Chatard head coach Brian Shaughnessy sees the work and his evolution as a player daily.
“Edreece has a gear that not many people have. Nobody outworks him, and he is a lightning bolt”, says Shaughnessy. “He’ll run the point for us and scores at all levels. He has bought into our culture/leadership and wants to be part of a winning program”.
High praise for a sophomore, but Redmond is accustomed to winning. He is also part of a winning Indiana Elite North 2020 team this spring/summer that is one of the best teams in the nation. He also plays with the main Indiana Elite 2020 squad (tops in the nation) from time to time and has shown he is one of the top point guards in the class.
“Edreece has everything as a player, especially his on the ball defense and getting in the passing lanes for steals”, says Frank Kendrick, long time coach who coached Indiana Elite North. “He is a very smart and coachable young man with no ego”.
Redmond looks to continue to blossom this year this summer and lead Chatard next year as junior to new heights.
“I want to win the Sectional championship next year and I would also like to make the All-City team”, says Redmond. “I also want to continue to improve my ball handling and getting to the basket”.
Redmond is also a great example of student/athlete. Dad Edreece, Sr. preaches that discipline.
“I am proud of the leader he is becoming both on and off the court. He knows that it takes everyone reading the same book and on the same page to win at this level and he’s up for the challenge”, says Redmond, Sr.
Redmond is definitely a player to watch this summer and into his junior year. The ability and grades are there, along with the desire to get better and lead his teams.
