Tindley Lady Tigers Win The GIAC Championship

The Tindley Lady Tigers get it done over the weekend and win the Greater Indianapolis Athletic Conference tournament over Purdue Poly  65-49.

The Lady Tigers were pushed in this game as Purdue Poly, in only their second year as a girls program, made it tough by leading early in the first half.  Senior guard Aniya Washington picked up two fouls in the first quarter, but inserted back into the lineup early in the second quarter quarter with her team down 17-12.  She made an instant impact to give the Lady Tigers a 30-24 halftime.  They never looked back from there.

“I knew I had to stay poised so we could get the win, and we were able to come through”, says Washington.  Come through is an understatement as Washington finished with 32 points and was player of the game.  Senior guard Carissa Johnson had 21 points to lead Purdue Poly.
