Indianapolis Met is used to being the underdog since its inception. They showed unbelievable on Saturday in route to a come-from-behind 69-66 win over favored Tindley.
“Everyone counted us out, but these kids work hard in practice”, said head coach Lee Jackson, who is in his 5th year at the school. “We were short handed, but the kids worked hard and they wanted it”.
Tindley took a 34-28 lead into halftime on a half court buzzer beater by sophomore point guard Billy Brown to give them some momentum. But it was all Indy Met after intermission. They took a 49-48 lead into the 4th quarter and went on an 11-2 run that was the difference. Prep Ball Stars Player Of The Game Quincy Stamps lead all scorers with 26 points and Dhazon “Duke” Lane chipped in 19.
“Our backs were against the wall, and we just had to come out here and prove everyone wrong”, says Stamps.
Tindley was lead by Jayden Pinkston with 18 points. These teams face each other again in a rematch on Wednesday, December 16th.
