The July period is upon us with very few chances to shine in front of college coaches live. Here are some players that are right on the verge of some offers or even bigger offer breakthroughs with more solid play:
Sincere McMahon, 6‘1″ Point Guard, Attucks (2020)
McMahon got a breakthrough in June with his first offer from Western Illinois. He has been getting buckets since his freshman year for state champion Tindley and was an All City performer at Attucks as a junior. The junior all-star is one of the leaders in 3-point shooting playing for EG10 on the Adidas Gauntlet. He is crafty, can get to the rim and obviously shoot from deep at a high percentage. He could even more favor come his play with continued solid play.
Victor Young, 6’3″ Wing, Muncie Central (2020)
Young has a nice build and plays both sides of the ball. He plays for Indy Heat Red and picked up his first offer from Northwood (D2) last week. He will be a player to watch this month.
Leland Walker, 6’1″ Guard, North Central (2022)
Walker is too good not to start getting offers. He plays for Team Teague and is nasty and explosive. He should have a big July, and North Central will be one of the most improved teams this year.
DJ Hughes, 6’7″ Forward, Lawrence North (2021)
Hughes really shined in June and showed he can really knock down some 3s. He hit several while at Indiana University team camp and was one of the top performers at the Charlie Hughes Tournament. He picked offers from IUPUI, Western Illinois and New Orleans in a 3-day span. Playing up this month with EG10 17u on the Gauntlet, he will be looking for more this week.
Robert Fry II, 6’2″ Point Guard, Ben Davis (2020)
Fry II was a key piece in helping Carmel to the Class 4A championship when healthy. He’s fully healthy now and looked good playing for the Giants in June. Has great size and athleticism for a PG and can really get in the lane and be physical for buckets. Playing with Grand Park 2020 with UA Rise.
Tayshawn Comer, 6’1″ Point Guard, Cathedral (2022)
Comer is one of the best offensive guards in any class as far as creating his own shot and with his quickness. He already holds a Miami of Ohio offer and could see more come his way this month for Team Teague
Dylan Stafford, 6’3″ Guard, Muncie Central (2020)
Stafford has game and is a sneaky scorer. He has offers from some NAIA programs, including Indiana Tech but looks to carry over a nice June (29 points against Pike) to more offers. Interest is high from NAIA to low D1.
Ronald Johnson, 6’1″ Point Guard, Park Tudor (2021)
Johnson is a quiet assassin, and this is the player you want leading your team. he plays the right way, can shoot it and will make the right play and shot when the games are tight. One of the best point guards for the Class of 2021. Playing for EG10 this month.
Maximus Gizzi, 6’1″ Point Guard, New Palestine (2020)
Gizzi is right there and has flown under the radar for more offers. He shouldn’t be. He can PLAY. He is playing for one the Indiana Elite teams and holds an offer from Marian. Could a big July send more offers his way? The way he shoots, creates and runs a team, we think so.
CJ Gunn, 6’4″ Wing, Lawrence North (2022)
Get to know Gunn. He is going to be a player now and really down the road. GREAT length and skilled. Played at Hamilton Southeastern last year but is moving to Lawrence North for his sophomore year. Playing on the Adidas Gauntlet for EG10.
Jake Heidbreder, 6’3″ Guard, Floyd Central (2021)
Heidbreder served notice out the gate last season as a sophomore with 22 points at Lawrence North in a win for Floyd Central. Don’t leave him open. And he can also play in the open court. He has given many buckets since then, including a 30 point performance in June against Louisville Male.
Dayveon Turner, 6’2″ Combo Guard, Anderson (2022)
Turner started varsity the whole year at Anderson, and it shows with the amount of confidence he plays with. He has been in many wars playing with Team Teague and has turned into a lethal long range shooter, which he demonstrated at Prep Ball Stars Combine and in the spring. He is a sleeper prospect in the Class of 2022 but is one of the better ones at the guard position.
